A lot of homeowners have been asking me: "Is private property in B.C. at risk?"

A lot of homeowners have been asking me: "Is private property in B.C. at risk?"

Here's the latest. 👇

The Supreme Court of Canada has declined to hear the Wolastoqey appeal from New Brunswick, leaving in place a decision that Aboriginal title could not be declared over privately owned, fee-simple land in that case.

This may shape the broader conversation around the Cowichan case here in B.C. — but it does not automatically settle the issue for us.

My view: homeowners deserve clarity, reconciliation deserves respect, and our market needs legal certainty so buyers, sellers, lenders, and families can move forward with confidence.

I'll keep watching this closely. Land title certainty is one of the foundations of real estate ownership in Canada.

Not legal advice — just an important update for property owners. 🏡
